Biography
Ayanda Mabulu is one of South Africa's most provocative and politically charged contemporary painters. His large-scale figurative works are bold, visceral indictments of power, inequality and racial injustice.
Mabulu's paintings carry an urgent, confrontational energy — blending expressionist figuration with social commentary in a way that resonates powerfully across cultures and geographies.
He participated in the inaugural AOCA exhibition AFROPOP at Minnesota Street Project, San Francisco, February 2026, alongside Dr. Esther Mahlangu, Clint Strydom and others.
